pumpkins

Avery's Halloween this year was unfortunately filled with all tricks and no treats. She woke up the day before Halloween with a high fever and a rash and it persisted not only through that day, but through the entire weekend. So no trick or treating, no visiting friends or relatives, and no fun costumes. NO FUN AT ALL!! It just seemed like torture to put a child with a fever into a hot costume.

Luckily, we had taken Avery to the pumpkin patch a week or so before and had her in her costume for the trip. So here she is in her turtle costume, relaxing in the pumpkins. Picking out the perfect pumpkin. She actually did better than we could have dreamed in the costume, AND left alone the hat on her head! We ended up taking it off to get some pictures, but she didn't mind the costume either way. She did like the wagon full of gourds (see what a good sharer she is). And only one ended up broken!

What Avery really loved was seeing the animals. She stood for the longest time watching the pygmy pigs. She was just standing there pointing at them and saying "dog". We tried explaining to her that they were pigs. But she can't say pig yet, so dogs they were. Until of course she saw the turkey and started calling it "duck". Then everything was a duck; The pigs, turkey, goats, and even plants.

There was even a real turtle! We showed it to Avery. She of course called it a duck and tried to take a swim with it...

We had a good time and are looking forward to actually getting to take her Trick or Treating next year. Unless of course we show up at your house between now and then and she is in costume. We are considering doing a makeup day. Please be prepared for our random Trick or Treating :)
