Christmas Day

Oh the joy and wonder in a child's eye on Christmas morn'. We began to experience this for ourselves this year, and it was such a delight. Avery awoke to a rocking horse. And let me tell you she LOVES that horse. We going to get her a swing, but when Avery and I walked past this in the store, she wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of the day with that horse. She cried for about 5 minutes after we walked away, and she had never protested when we took a toy away from her before. So mommy went home, talked with daddy about it and guess who had a rocking horse for Christmas. We can talk about whether she is spoiled or not at a later time (yes, she is). But oh the look of delight was worth every penny.
Avery was so tired when she first woke up we had to ask her, "Avery, what is that?". She looked towards where we were pointing, looked back at us with eyes as big as saucers, looked back at the horse and toddled as fast as she could towards it. She went to it and immediately gave it a big hug and a kiss. So precious.

However, Chip and I are convinced she has it somewhat confused with riding a bull. Especially in the beginning, she would only ride it in 8 second increments, or less. And since she cannot get herself on and off of it yet, it makes a workout for dad and mom also.

The other big hit was what came in Avery's stocking. Avery had taken a real liking to raisins before Christmas. And since she is not always really good about drinking her milk, what could be better than giving her yogurt covered raisins? She gets a treat that she likes, and mommy slips some dairy in. It's a win-win! And it was a great hit, she loved them. She kept cramming as many as you would give to her into her mouth, until she had white drool running down her chin! And mommy smiled because Avery was enjoying the yogurt.
